Sussex Insurance - Richmond

NEVER GO . They make my registration under somebody else’s name. Then took me many days calling, going and even had to do a police report for scam since they were saying come next day 3 times. The worst part was, a lady offer me to reimburse my uber to the place but the manager told me they aren’t going to do it. Can’t believe how bad they were.

Went to get my plates and insurance changed, Korman was very informative and had clear understanding of the procedure and made it very easy to understand the process. Great service!

The lady was rude and seemingly bothered that i was even there having to deal woth a customer. Proceeded to do exactly the opposite of what i requested which was change my vehicle purpose policy costing me $400+ dollars for that ladys negligence. With her attitude it almost seemed deliberate

1 Star – Worst Experience (Twice!) I’ve had terrible experiences twice at Sussex Insurance Richmond. This time, I went in to cancel my motorcycle insurance, which is under my wife’s name. She doesn’t have a driver’s license and recently lost her BCID, which hasn’t been delivered yet due to the Canada Post strikes. She brought her passport as her primary ID and we had our license plates ready to return. As soon as we entered, the staff insisted they needed a driver’s license. We explained the situation clearly, but they still refused. Then they asked for a physical copy of the insurance papers. I mentioned I didn’t have one but could download it instantly from ICBC’s website. The lady seemed unaware that insurance documents can be printed online, challenged me to do it, and when I started downloading, she took it personally and refused to proceed—saying they only accept a physical copy. I’ve worked in the insurance industry before, and I know that plates and valid ID are enough to cancel a policy. We ended up going to their other branch at Marine Drive Superstore, where the staff used the same documents (passport + plates) and cancelled the insurance without any issue. This isn’t the first time I’ve had problems at this Richmond location. Even my previous visit was unpleasant—the staff seemed uninformed and unprofessional. Honestly, even without an insurance license, I knew more about basic procedures than they did. The lady at this branch completely lacks customer service skills. Zero professionalism. I would not recommend this location at all.

Terrible experience. They simply didn’t want my business. Made up multiple excuses (none true) as to why they couldn’t help me. “ICBC is closed today” - it wasn’t. “You need to make an appointment” - the office was empty, I was the only customer. “You need to have the trailer with you” - I didn’t, as confirmed by another office on the same day. Rude and unhelpful. They shouldn’t be licensed to sell insurance for ICBC.
