After waiting over 2 hours at AMA only to be told they couldn't help me with simple vehicle insurance, I went up the street to Plains, and I'M SO GLAD I DID! Amanda helped me right away, completely walked me through a very TYPICAL procedure and got me insured and on the road in less than half an hour. Note: I acknowledge being an out of province applicant may not be the most standard situation, but it's not a completely 'unheard of' scenario. AMA made me feel like they'd be moving mountains in order to even consider taking me on even if I made sure to have all my documentation and paperwork prepared. Just save yourself the time and go to Plains. They want to work with you and aren't just robots that are stuck to doing the routine work.
