Tried to cancel day prior to renewal and this company would not budge and insisted on charging a month’s home insurance ($160). They were also much more expensive than the company I switched to, which provides better customer service accessibility.

The agents working for this company are moody, temperamental and will force you to escalate your claim multiple times to “managers” who also are not good with public service. I was involved in a serious accident on the 401, my pickup was rear ended by a transport truck. Just hearing that, I bet without seeing it you can imagine there would be a lot of damage. I was forced to wait over 6 weeks for the agent to finally agree to tow my truck and have it appraised (essentially waited a month and a half just to know if it COULD be repaired). My first time escalating my claim was about the 3-4 week mark when my truck was still sitting in my driveway and the agent wouldn’t even return my calls, or emails. My second time came about week 5 and still no tow truck was arranged and no appraiser had come out. I was working and driving every day to Windsor with a rental for 6 weeks before they finally towed it. The decision to write it off was made within a few hours of it being in the shop. So very quickly. But because my agent decided to slow roll everything… I had no idea if it was being fixed or not in those 6 weeks of rental driving. So after the decision was made I had mayyyybe about a week of rental time left to shop for vehicles.. working full time, I had about a day of shopping. So clearly did not get anything close to what I had before or anything close to what I would have wanted. This was a year ago and I’m still very upset. If you don’t wanna get stuck with this treatment, go with aviva insurance… or ANY other insurance company. This one doesn’t care about the employees they have employed and therefore do not care about the customer service they are providing.

YOU WILL BE MISQUOTED AND YOU WILL PAY. ZERO CONCERN FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION OR LOYALTY. Was with Sandy for a number of years and swapped cars every 6-12 months. My most recent new vehicle was purchased in Feb. I emailed Sandy, told her what was happening and to my surprise she said I would have a bill until renewal in June and I would get a refund. Working in the automotive sales I help clients with insurance frequently and never heard of a refund and no payments before. I emailed back to confirm that this was correct in which she said it was. Well a month later a payment comes out, higher than expected, and I emailed her asking what’s going on. Her response “ Kevin, I am so sorry. There was only a return of $1.01 when you transferred from the Ford to the Lincoln. I don’t know what I was thinking, that I didn’t see that. This balance is for the remainder of the term. Again, my apologies. I am so sorry.” Asked if there was anything to be done by her or the company but this was the reply “ I am sorry, but this has come directly from Halwell, so there is nothing that we can do. Again , my apologies.” Here we are 2 days before renewal and haven’t heard a word. Customer service is terrible. Your loyalty means nothing to them. I have email receipts but doubt anyone cares to see them.

Lmaooo I have had an accident under my license for 5 years that I was not involved in and have called this company so many times to get it fixed. Everytime I apply for insurance it’s a walking headache because they cannot remove the accident for some reason DESPITE sending a letter claiming it was “fixed”. Absolutely terrible, not even insured by them and still having to pay for ever being under them.

They had been an okay company to deal with on and off over the couple policies I have had.... HOWEVER they have put me in a terrible position by NOT canceling my policy on time or properly. THEY withdraw funds and nfs my account AFTER my policy was cancelled and I had already gotten new insurance and paid off my set amount they mailed me in my letter of cancelation. They then were to refund me the nfs fee, expect THEY did not cancel my policy and I had a 36 dollar balance owing. That I was fully unaware of cause of their error. I am now unable to pay my bill for hydro in full and my account is now due in full rather then my minimum payments as agreed. And now have to take my new insurance policy money (2 month deposit which still isnt enough) and pay my hydro and pray in 2 weeks I can magically pull that from no where and cover it or screw myself with my new policy. I will NEVER use them again and I recommend using another company 100%, my policy was set to be canceled from the 25th of August and canceled Sept 16th. I do believe almost a month was more then enough time to do things properly and now screw people over.
